The First Robotics Competition began in 1991. Winona Senior High School formed Team 3090 in 2008. The goal of the robot competition changes each season. In January the new rules of the challenge are released with a standard set of parts. Teams must design, build, program, and troubleshoot their robot within a six week timeframe. Students remotely control the robot on a playing field in competition rounds.
In the fall of 2013 Cotter High School formed a coop with WSHS to allow Cotter students to join the learning and excitement as team members.
WSHS students learn teamwork and communications skills, designing and engineering, machining, electronics, programming, CAD & graphic design, and publicity.
